Ginger and Pickles
This is a blog dedicated to my two amazing kids, Lil' b and Bug. It's a fun way to keep people updated on their lives through stories and pictures posted by me, their mama.

Conversations with Lil' b
These are some little bits of conversations with my three year old daughter, lil' b.
b: "Daddy, you're a big woman."
While lil'b was eating a herbal throat drop and holding it in her hands.
Me: "Are your hands gross?"
b: "No, just sticky."
After talking about what a first, middle, and last name means and what each of our family members full names are.
Me: "...that's your last name, and all of us have it: mommy, daddy, bug, and you. Because we stick together!"
b: "Right, we don't cross the street by ourselves. We hold hands."
While b was sitting on the potty.
Me: "Did you go pee?"
b: "Definitely."
b: "Daddy, you're a big woman."

Life Before Me?
Lil' b was looking through our wedding album this morning while I was getting dressed upstairs. I heard her talking to herself which she does a lot right now. She started talking about getting married and how daddy and mommy got married, and how she was married too. Then she said the cutest thing, she said, "Mommy and Daddy got married and I stayed home with Judah." It was so precious.
It's so funny how little ones have such a hard time imagining life before they were born. They are so self consumed, that they can't imagine that life happened when they weren't around. It reminds me of when I was little and my parents would tell me about how they were little once upon a time ago. It was so hard for me to understand that they used to be little like me and they could really understand my kid feelings. Now I'm in their shoes. Lil' b still doesn't get that grandma is my mommy. Mommy having a mommy? That's weird.
Snaggle Tooth Fangs
Bug has four teeth. He has his bottom two teeth and then instead of getting his top two like everyone else he got in his side teeth or otherwise known as the fangs. I've been trying to get a good pick of them because they are so cute and funny looking. After he got his teeth in all funny, I remembered that I had fangs before braces, not joking, really I had fangs. My teeth right next to my front two teeth stuck out like fangs, and my mother had them also. I have a soft spot for people with this condition, and I would have kept them if I could have, but the ortho said no. I hate when writers make fun of people like Kirsten Dunst for her snaggle teeth, because her teeth are exactly what mine used to look like, and I find them endearing. What is wrong with not having perfectly straight teeth? I realized the other day that one of my kids could very well get my snaggle teeth for real! I can't wait, but in the mean time without further ado here are the baby snaggle teeth.
Oh, and apparently they are just in time for Halloween.

Bump Bump Bump
On Monday, my little man had a pretty major fall. We have wooden stairs up to our upstairs bedroom that he is obsessed with, and tries to climb every chance he can get. He's not even 8 months old and he's been climbing up these stairs for about a month. We have a door which is closed most of the time, so he can not climb them, but on Monday the door was open. I was taking laundry upstairs and he had just started his ascent, and I thought I'll get him in just a minute. I walked another stair up then turned to watch him fall down, thankfully, three stairs. He started crying immediately, as he had landed right on his cheek. So these pics on not for the week of heart. Here's my 8 month old son with his first black eye. He hit his cheek, but the bruise went right to his eye. It's painful for me to look at them. I'd like an eye patch to ease the mommy pain. Anyone have one? Oh, and I included a pic of the offending stairs. I hate these stairs right now, because I have fallen on them too, about 4 times. No, I'm not a graceful tall woman.

Lil'b's 3rd B-day Party
So, here's some pics of the party. It was at a school gym. We had about 16-18 kids riding tricycles which created a loud roar that sounded like a pack of bikers rolling into town. I thought it might be crazy and it was. I was worried that the other parents might think it was too busy, but everyone said that they had a great time and talked about how much fun it was for the kids.
We decorated cupcakes, and do to B's request, we had a pinata. It a couple good swings from the older kids to break it open, and down came the motherload. We mostly put little toys in the pinata versus candy, because that many little ones hiped up on loads of candy and candy kind of frightens me. This is the first year Lil'b has really noticed birthdays, so it was really fun.
